Wagner HVLP sprayers
« on: June 02, 2009, 07:13:23 am »
I know they came up before here, but I wonder if anyone had any experience with the HVLP models of the Wagner sprayers ?

What I understand is that they don't need (much) of thinning of the paint.

Would it work good to spray metal cab parts ?

Would I be able to paint the sides of my Mario Bros cab with it and would it look good ?

I also have a separate compressor but the HVLP guns I see are at least twice the price of the Wager and from what I've read you need a really BIG compressor to have a HVLP gun work OK ?

They will spray clearcoats and varnish good . As for latex paints, you're better off dumping it in your mouth and spitting it on your project.

Are you commenting on the HVLP version or the older airless sprayers ?

I specifically mean the HVLP version, I know the airless stuff sucks.

or how about a LVLP gun (Instead of HVLP) ? These can be used on a rather small compressor like I own:

I have a HVLP all in one deal from Harbor Freight. It has a compressor you carry over your shoulder via strap. Even with considerable amounts of floetrol and water, Latex paint did not come out very well.

It's not too surprising that a Harbor Freight tool works like crap, though.
