25" CGA Monitor Recomendations
« on: May 29, 2009, 10:35:26 am »
I think I've decided on a 25" Makvision CGA monitor (with an AVGA2 card) for my MAME cab:

http://www.twistedquarter.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=11&products_id=368

My thinking is that most all of the games I'm interested in don't require a the higher resolution of a tri-mode, and I'd really prefer a curved screen to get as close as possible to the originals.  For times when I need to access the PC itself, I figure I can just VNC into it.

Actually, this is the only 25" monitor with a curved screen that I can seem to find new (which is what I'd prefer).  The 27" displays I've looked at won't fit my cabinet.

Anyone know of any other options for what I'm looking for?  Is my thinking correct in that I probably don't need a tri-mode?

Neotec still lists 25" CGA monitors on their web page, but I don't know who sells them.
I got a Neotec CGA 27" and it's been fine. I didn't buy it through a dealer though, I got it new from someone that didn't realize they needed a medium resolution monitor.
