Ms. Pacman 2 player
« on: May 28, 2009, 06:18:06 pm »
hey guys um i have my mame machine set up with 2 joysticks. but with some games like ms. pacman i know the original machine only had one joysick so when you would play two player you would just share the joystick. but is there a way to make it so P1 uses P1 joystick and P2 uses P2 joystick.
thanks

you can map both joysticks.

you would have to trust the other player to not interfere.

I usually map both joysticks in one player one joystick games.  I do this because my player 2 joystick is the closest to the middle so it feels more natural.  Also less confusion and the ability to use left or right hand.

Yup, just go into MAME & do the following:

Run Ms. Pac-Man in MAME.

Hit tab to enter menu.

Arrow down to & select (with Enter) the controls for this game

Arrow down to the "up" entry.  Hit Enter.  Push P1 stick up.  Wait a moment.  Hit Enter.  Push P2 stick up.  You should now have "'something 1' or 'something 2'" mapped to P1 Up, where the "something"s are whatever keys are mapped to your joysticks when pressed up.

Repeat for down, left, & right.

Esc until you've exited all menus.

Play.

Settings should be saved automatically when you leave MAME & return to re-run the game.
