I need a pic of an 8-pin neck board.
« on: May 26, 2009, 07:32:28 pm »
I'm looking into buying an 8liners chassis to use on a tube I just picked up.

I've never seen an 8 pin neck before today and just want to compare it
with a picture of a standard 8 pin neck board before I spend any money.

So what size of tube, as well on the back of the tube (usually left side as viwed from the rear, there will ba a label that will tell us who made the tube,,, such as RCA, Thompsonm Phillips. Then a number starting likel wit an A... what is the full number.

Ok what resolution, are there any numbers on a label on the yoke

Good luck

Here is a pic of the neck, as well as the neck board.

It's in a t.v. right now, so i'm pretty sure it's a standard resolution tube.

It's a 19" GE brand t.v. from 1988.

The tube has a label that says GE, but the yoke has a label that says RCA.

I haven't measured the inpendance of the yoke yet because I was wondering
if the 8liners 8-pin chassis has the same type of neck board connector.

All of the tubes i've seen untill now have had 10-pin connectors, so I guess
I was expecting to see the same type of connector, but with less pins.
The way that this neck board attaches to the neck is different and I was
thrown off by it and wanted to know it this was a standard 8-pin configuration.

typical rca/ge crt for the time period.
i don't recall the chassis number ( ctc-140 ?? ) but , have worked on many.......
post the model number , as i likely have the service manual.
then may be able to advise further on modifications  ;)

Ooooooooh! I like modifications!

You mean to say that I can make this accept an RGB input?
I have read that it was possible, but didn't know where to start.

Anyway, the model# on the t.v. is 8-1932

A label on the chassis close to the flyback transformer has:

CTC136AD
2842488-512
EIA27488027
RWZ         KJE
REV- 8

a little older than first thought  :-[

will do some digging and advise  ;D

** it crosses to SAMS 3436 **   i do have this schematic in pdf.  pm an email addy if u want it  ;)
the crt has a standard pinout.
so, one option would be to change the crt socket to match crt .
another option  is to CAREFULLY remove the rca/ge plug and install the more modern plug to use

Hi!

Thanks for the schematic.

It just seems to be a bit out of my range of experence though.

I just ordered a chassis for a ten-pin tube I just got.
It seems like the ten-pin neck connectors are more common so it would
be easier to find a new tube should I experence problems with this one.
