Need some direction...
« on: May 16, 2009, 04:03:07 am »
Just got a Wells Gardner D9800 and I feel lost.  Working with a CRT is all new to me and I have a few questions.  It seems pretty complicated but maybe I'm just going about it wrong.

1.  Using Soft15khz, any resolution above say 400x400 is very jiggy and produces an ear piercing sinewave.  Is this normal?  Would getting the ArcadeVGA card help?  Its so piercing I can barely stand it.

2.  One thread I found on here says to use AVRES tool to get games to run in their native resolutions.  Where can I find this?  Does it only come with ArcadeVGA?  I tried Advancemame and it doesn't switch res based on the games res.  Should I use Mamewah instead?

3.  Basically, if you could break it all down for me, what apps should I be using to use my CRT with Mame to its fullest potential?

I've been at this all day and sometimes I'm not sure if I'm going down the wrong path.    :-\  Thanks in advance.
