Free iTunes to MP3 converter
« on: May 11, 2009, 02:11:47 pm »
I just stumbled on a free converter that converts itunes M4A files to MP3's. I doubt it will work with the old DRM encoded files that itunes used to use, but it works with the new non DRM stuff. This makes my life a lot easier.... no more burning to CD, re-encoding to MP3 just to play a song in something other than itunes! Just thought I would share.....

Thanks for the link. It's not on-the-fly conversion though, is it? I'd like to retain my m4a files but be able to play them on other software.

Also, iTunes used to be able to do this but I see the latest version lacks the requisite "Convert to mp3" option. They get you every time, don't they?

It retains the original m4a file. I haven't been able to find the convert to mp3 option in the new version either, I also can't find the option to burn text cd's. (though I probably just haven't looked hard enough)  I try to use itunes as little as possible, I used to use anapod instead, but it doesn't work with the newer ipods or the iphones. I have been using Sharepod lately as it seems to work flawlessly with the newest ipods now. Now I just wish I could find a way to play music videos and tv shows downloaded though itunes in something else.
