Setting convergence on Sharp Image 34"
« on: May 05, 2009, 01:04:04 am »
Can anyone offer some help / advice on setting up the purity / convergence / 2 pole rings ?..

I’m usually pretty good at setting purity and convergence on smaller monitors.  These larger ones 33+ make me nuts because they are so sensitive to the magnetic Fields of the earth etc..

My question is about the 2 pole adjustment rings. The monitor displays discoloration at the corners and is improved / made worse with the adjustment of these rings.

I know ill have to use some additional magnet / stickers to get rid of the discoloration.

2 questions:

Should I have the monitor facing a specific direction (North-East etc...) before making the pole adjustments and adding the magnets ? Im told there is a direction that can be faced to minimize the earths magnetic field.

What’s the most common adjustment for the 2 pole rings ? (North / South)

Hey Arm, remind me... where are you located??

Were you at the training seminar I did last year on monitor repair??

If you are close I would be happy to do a training session with you on purity and convergence set-up.

Normaly I can do the whole setup in like 2 minutes.

Especially if we could find a way to record it so it could be posted.

Otherwise, happy to help in any way.

Let me know.

Any other memebers close and want to help develop a DYI let me know, I am open.

always looking to help

Hey there Rick,  yup...   I was at your training seminar.  You adjusted the yoke and rings VERY fast.  I, and everyone else, was amazed.

Everyone was crowded around, so my view was blocked for the yoke adjustments.  I must have missed out on some of it.

We should set up a date.  Ill come out to your place with a camera and post it up for all, if that’s cool with you.

Yes I was pretty sure you were there.

Yes I think a video would help all our friends on the forums,

Let me think about timing as I am thinking perhaps another session but this time on monitor set-up, symptoms and such.

By the way bug me e-mail if I don;t get back to you on this within the next 2 weeks.

I have a lot going on and it might slip in priority,
