Now, this is a neat and unbiased representation of the discussion. I'm not sure about the full screen brightness factor, though. I'm very interested to see the results of this in Mame.

Never mind. Not so much CRT emulation as NTSC emulation, according to R.Belmont, and hence not at all applicable to mame.
