Mortal Kombat Converted to Mame Project (Marvel CP DONE!)
« on: May 03, 2009, 05:47:37 pm »
Hey everyone, been lurking around here for awhile, decided to post a few pictures of my project.  Bought a MK3 Cab (was originally a MK1 Cab which had a terrible conversion to an MK3 cab).  I haven't taken a whole lot of pics of my project, got to involved with actually working on it and forgot!  This is my first time ever picking up any wood working tools or a soldering iron, but i'm pretty happy with how everything turned out.

Here are a few shots of the cab in progress.  Started stripping everything down/off, primed and only the first coat of paint, i still need to put one more coat of paint on, put my t-molding in, and start putting everything together.  Also made a custom kick plate for the front (credit goes to my fiances step father for the kick plate, took him about 5 minutes!).  Also getting rid of the old light and using a NovaMatrix™ LED Marquee Light.

Here is my cp.  Using two Happ Comp. 8-way sticks and a Happ Super 4-way.  Using a turbo twist 2 spinner, electric ice push buttons and trackball too. Couldn't find any artwork for my panel, came across this poster, tried it out, and it worked out perfect, wasn't planning on going with a marvel theme, but it turned out great! I modified lusids cp templates for the button layout as well.  Cp was a very very tight fit, cp is only about 27 inches long and 17 inches wide (a hair less than that actually) so thats why some of the buttons are kind of close, but everything feels really good!

I'll post some more info later, to much to post when i have so much still to do!

Cool. Awesome job so far.
Current collection - 28 cabs, 4 pins. (32 machines and not enough room)

What a beautiful CP for what is going to be a beautiful machine.

Is that a Marvel poster as the overlay or is it custom?

Hey everyone, thanks for all of the replies! It is the marvel poster as the overlay, and then of course just plexiglass holding everything down.  Just worked out really good, the poster is all over the stores if you look for it, worked out perfect for my cp dimensions (looks like I built my cp around the poster, I actually built the cp first and found the poster after I was unhappy with some artwork that i ordered from mamemarquees (the marquee was great, but the artwork didn't look like it did on the website)!
