Say Hello to my Little Friend!!!! New stick I finished
« on: April 21, 2009, 08:24:06 pm »
Hey guys check out the new stick I finally finished. Made it to go along with my X360's theme of Scarface the Movie.

Red button is the "Guide" and the battery mounted externally.

I put about 3 coats of poly to give it that shine. These are the admin buttons with the sync button being the black center button along with the usb passthrough and led switch on the backside.

Bottom side with acrylic window and a decal I found off of ebay. Ill be adding Red LEDs for the inside a little later.

Thanks guys!! Hope you folks like it!!

Looks good!

Besides finishing it, how did you do the paint?  Is it spray painted?

Also on the plexi on the bottom, was it strong enough to feel sturdy without any additional supports?  I havent actually built one for myself using the 0.22" thick stuff.

Yeah I spray painted the box a black gloss and put maybe 3 to 4 coats of poly. The plexi feels sturdy but I would suggest using the additional supports just in case but overall if you dont move your stick around alot it should be fine.

Yeah using it shouldnt be a problem, just how study it feels when picking it up and moving it around.

I totally suck at spray painting, always ends up running no matter how conservative I try to be with it, makes for a lot of sanding and redoing.

Very, very nice.  Too bad you couldn't have some white powder artwork in there as a decoration.   ;D

Yeah, a proper Scarface CP is just a mirror finish with a razor and a straw.

Is that the battery pack on the side? If so, why do you also have a USB passthrough? Just curious.

Nice theme - I especially like the bottom. You guys do a much cleaner wiring job than me. I've got stuff all over the place.

USB pass through is for charging the battery.

Maybe the better question would be:

"If you installed the USB passthrough, why bother putting the battery pack on the outside as well?"

So you can easily swap it.

Just because you can easily be plugged in doesn't mean you want to be. If you don't feel like being tethered you can always pop on a previously charged battery or standard AA battery pack, or you can use the less often used arcade stick as a charger for other batteries for your main controller. Maybe you only have one rechargeable battery, and you share it with other controllers.

Any number of reasons really. It is just making every part of the controller effortlessly accessible.

versapak you hit the nail on the head. I dont know if its just mine but it seems my X360 rechargable batteries need to be recharged quite often. So rather than plugging a cable in I can just swap the battery. In case I go somewhere and forget the batteries I can still use the usb passthrough in case power gets low on the road!!

Hoopz!! Your chainsaw and powder idea is interesting, what would you suggest because the side opposite of the battery and guide button is completely bare. Id like to add a little something.
