Earthshaker problem -- SOLVED
« on: April 17, 2009, 09:58:39 pm »
I just bought my first pin, Earthshaker. Got it home, everything worked fine. Opened the back box to reveal the main board with the 3 AA batteries in the center. At least one was either leaking or would be within weeks. I popped them out and put new ones in. Turned the machine back on (I now know I should've left it on) and now I get the message 'ajstment failure'. After looking this up, it's supposedly a battery issue. I soldered a new battery holder to be mounted off the board. I am getting 4.5 volts to the connections. I am getting proper voltage to the diode on the lower left of the battery case and I am getting proper power to the u25 chip. I am told that chip must be bad. So how was it working before the battery swap? If anybody has any experience with this, I am open to suggestions. I cannot get the 'ajstment failure' off the display. Thanks!

;D OK, after a weekend of anguish and being stood up by a repair guy, I fixed my Earthshaker. Turns out the memory protection switch that closes when the coin door closes had come loose somewhere during its life. The previous owner banded it shut with a rubber. Once I took the rubber band off, boom...the menu responded. Glad the repair guy didn't show up or call. Probably saved me a hundred bucks!

no dice on that, unless there is some crazy combo I haven't tried. I can get into the menu, but it won't let me change anything. I refuse to believe there isn't something I'm overlooking.

OK, a new problem. This is actually more of an annoyance. When the ball goes into the shelter, I am getting about a 12 second delay before it kicks it back out. At first I thought a switch wasn't tripping and I was nudging it. But then I noticed that it would kick it out on it's own after the lengthy delay. Clearly it shouldn't be doing this and it wasn't at first. I didn't mess with the settings or anything. The reason I thought that is wasn't tripping a switch was that I did mess with the levelers to get it more level. If anyone has had this issue before, advise would help me keep my sanity.

It may still be the switch dude, go into diagnostics mode on active switch test & push on the switch to see if it registers or look to see if a wire came loose from the solder on whatever items are in the line of the switch matrix.............if that doesn't make sense let me know I will PM you my#.

OK, here's a new problem. It seems that when I play for a little while  (ES), the left bottom flipper gets weaker as the game goes on. This flipper was rebuilt shortly before I bought it, maybe 2 or 3 months ago. When I first turn the game on, it is as strong as the day I brought it home. I'm a noob and this may be something obvious, but I could use some ideas. Thanks!
