My first MAME conversion and golden tee in a box add on.
« on: April 10, 2009, 06:14:37 pm »
Hello everyone,  I have been creeping here for some time now doing research for my first MAME cabinet back in Sept of last year.
I really wanted to have a Golden Tee arcade machine for a long time, but also wanted to have MAME as well.  After doing a lot of research I bought my first Golden tee 04 cabinet in working condition minus the monitor (was bad).  I origanally wanted to have a swapable control panel to have Golden tee working as well as MAME, but at that time thought that it was my first conversion I decided against it.
I removed the original control panel and set it aside, constructed a new panel out of 3/4" MDF and planned my new layout to include: 2 joysticks with 6 buttons each and a spinner with two buttons, all buttons to be illuminated.

Then after laying out the panel went ahead and assembled and wired everything up. Connected to an older HP computer that I had lying around, installed mala. Everything worked great

Items used:

1 Ipac4 went this why in case I wanted to upgrade to a 4 player panel
       2 Mag-Stik plus joysticks
22 ultra lux illuminated push buttons
       22 ultra lux 5v LEDS
1 rotary spin trax spinner with small fly wheel
       1 opti pac interface
2 pac drive for controlling the LEDS
       1 Marquee from MameMarquees
1 control panel overlay from MameMarquees
       1 24" LCD monitor

  Still needed:

       Monitor bezel and side art.
Removing computer from computer cabinet and mounting where Golden tee PCB board was.

After just about finishing the conversion, decided to build a separate box to mount the golden tee board, power supply, jamma harness, speakers, etc.

The golden tee box will have quick connects from the main cabinet to the portable golden tee box for easy switching (still not done as of yet). Will post more as it progresses.

Here are some pictures, any feedback welcomed.
