Romlister and Steering Wheel games
« on: April 02, 2009, 05:14:50 pm »
I know that I can use RomLister to create a list of "Driving" games using the Categories Allowed checkboxes, and I can use the Controls checkboxes to create a list of games that use a Dial (spinner). But where is the Paddle control? I want to create separate Driving lists for games that require an analog 270-wheel (Paddle) and 360-wheel (spinner). Does anyone know how I can do this?

OK, tell me if this sounds right:

I can tick "Driving" under the Categories Available, and then tick "Dial (spinner)" under the controls to get all 360-wheel optical driving games. Then I can un-tick "Dial (spinner)" to get all driving games that do not use a spinner, and hence should be analog 270-degree wheels?

That little text window at the bottom of the screen is where you'd make any custom modifications to your searches.  There's just no way to have every single possible combination of checkboxes and buttons to click to do everything everyone would want to do, so you'll have to edit it by hand.

Here's a tutorial:
http://wiki.arcadecontrols.com/wiki/RL_tutorial_Advanced_Searching

If that tutorial isn't enough to get you where you need, let me know and I'll work through it with you, and we can edit the wiki together to make it more instructive.

I don't know if this will help you, or not. I have a driving cab, and went through every game (only 63), and set the controls for them by hand. I uploaded my Cfg files, and a description of how I had the controls set here:

Maybe this will give you a head start...

Does your 63 games include analog and optical driving games? Right now I have an analog wheel, but it doesn't work well at all for Road Blaster in particular (270-degree optical). Just wondering what others have done.
