Can you compress the logical size of a CHD?
« on: April 12, 2009, 01:07:49 pm »
I have an 8gig CF I'm trying to use on my blitz/nba sportstation. I am upgrading it to the gold (security chip and boot rom) and have obtained the CHD for it.
Sadly I find out this CHD shows a LOGICAL drive size of over 10gig. (Used chdman - info xxx.chd) I'm not understanding how much more inflated this is compared to the nbanfl.chd that's out there and that my current game uses.

Anyway to get to the point - can you compress a CHD to have a smaller LOGICAL size?

CHD stands for Compressed Hunks of Data or Compressed Hard Disk.   The size of your CHD as shown in windows is already compressed.  The actual size shown is much larger.  The actual size cannot be changed as it is the size of the real data when expanded.
