buying a computer monitor...does it matter which brand?
« on: June 30, 2003, 02:14:41 am »
im constructing a cab, but i was wondering about the computer monitor.  i know the bigger the better (most cases), but for just running roms and thats it, does it matter which brand i get?  theres a monitor on ebay i found thats a 21" mitsubishi monitor for like $80.  its a little used, but thats all.  will this run all the games i have?  i have old atari games, to metal slug type graphics.  i just want enough to run the stuff without looking like crap.  and also, whats a video card that is "enough" to run all the games.  thanks in advance for any help!

Hmmm... as far as I know, any given SVGA monitor should give you every game. It doesn't get tricky til you hit arcade monitors.

As for the video card, lots of times the onvoard video doesn't cut it, but if you plan on playing with a computer monitor then really most aftermarket cards will do the trick.

32 Megs is fine.  Consider the Radeon 7000, it's quite inexpensive now.

I would go with something TV out! Like radeon per example!

But if you want something more 'arcadish' in the future, buy Arcade VGA from ultimarc.com! That bord rules!  ;D

Hope this helps!

PS: Geforce MX with tV OUT is great too but not compared to ATI!
