Kristel touchscreen drivers?
« on: March 26, 2009, 07:51:30 pm »

I have a couple or 13" Kristel touchscreens... brand new.  CRT serial control type.  Problem is that I can't find drivers anywhere or mention of them anywhere.  Anyone else have one of these suckers?  I'm fairly sure I remember that some other BYOAC folks snagged these off ebay around the same time I did.

What kind of micro-controller do they use ?

The touchscreen drivers will need to match the controller and overlay screen.... not the crt monitor itself.
So they may not be "Kristel" drivers, but more like 3M Microtouch or 3M Touch Systems and such.

Download the latest elo and 3m drivers and give them a try.   They work in about 80% of the time.   Just had a Gvision screen that I had problems with the proper driver.   The ELO driver worked first time.

And this is the 3M set I generally recommend trying.

Awesome, thanks guys.  Any issues with installing these drivers on a machine that gets used all the time as a regular machine?  The one assembled machine I have around right now to test with is the main house server.

I personally have installed the 3M drivers on my everyday PC and have used it for testing various touchscreens with. So there is not always a TS monitor connected to it, usually just my standard PC monitor. Never had any issues swapping back and forth nor just leaving the drivers on there.
Kinda like installing USB drivers..... the PC really doesn't care if the USB device is there or not, but it knows what to do when it is there.
I've had to re-boot on occassion after plugging a touchscreen in though for it to get recognized, so keep that in mind.

And also keep in mind the drivers we pointed at may or may not work. (generally they do though) I've found a couple controllers that were brand new and seemed to want some different drivers. The more info you can find on the controller, the better off you'll be.

Let us know how it goes.......
