Filling holes and Removing sticker?
« on: March 25, 2009, 05:22:45 pm »
I'm converting an old 2 button setup into a 6 button and I was wondering what would be the best way to fill in the old button and joystick holes.

Should I cut wood plugs, glue them in place and sand them down or use a filler like bondo?

Or should I just duplicate the whole CP door?

There is some kind of vinyl/laminate sticker wrapped around it to boot.  That sucker wont come off either.  I tried using a hair drier, but I just wound up pulling off hot sticky strings that adhered to my and and burned me.   :badmood:

I would have just left it on, but it's orange and it's cracked everywhere and icky.  So that's kinda got me thinking replacing the whole thing might be best.

Would another piece of the sticker stuff cover the old one fairly well?  I'm referring to the splits and such.  Would there be a bunch of dips in the new one or are these stickers fairly thick?

I don't have any specific artwork in mind for now, but I would like something a little better than crappy old worn orange or bare wood (not that I don't like bare wood, I just want it to match the cabinet).  I was thinking about just making it black and then coming up with a design to go on it later.

Since you are going to have to re drill and add new wholes I would use bondo.
