metal slug not working all of a sudden?
« on: March 22, 2009, 05:06:53 am »
Hi,
I had all my mame games working up to a few weeks ago.
Now none of the metal slug games are working, I havent changed anything in the ini or config so am a bit baffled.
I updated to mame .0130 this morning to see if that would fix it but its still the same.

Here is what mamewah is reporting.
Can someone help please.
Thanks
Sham.

MAME is likely not finding the updated ROMS needed for all the Neo Geo games (Metal Slug is included).  There have been several added files in the last couple months which if MAME does not find, the game will not run due to missing files.

Your best confirmation is to run MAME via command line:

MAME mslug -verbose

Any difficulties MAME has to get the game running should be detailed there.  If it's the roms, you have to start hunting for the latest "neogeo.zip".

Thanks Tafoid,
I didnt realise that there were seperate roms for the neo geo games.
I will have a look for the zip file I need.
Cheers for the reply.

Sorry to not be any help, but I thought I'd try Metal Slug 3 to see if it worked and it did.  But, I wanted to say thanks, I never tried these games before, pretty fun, I can't believe I missed them.
