New jukebox project
« on: March 15, 2009, 06:24:06 pm »
Hi to you all

Thought I might be in the right place for some advice etc on a jukebox setup I have planned involving the use of a Elo 17 " Touchscreen,250 gig XP pc with optical sound card , Yamaha RX-V363 av receiver seem to have the software sorted with Albumplayer after about two weeks wasted time on software junk,oh for a player  like Itunes but with big buttons and cover flow, but it is not to be and when all you have is lemons you have to make lemonade as they say.
I see the screen mounted flat on a disused brick chimney breast wall but I want the screen to flick out at the bottom when pushed against and move out smoothly (hydraulically?)(gas dampener strut of a car tailgate?) to about a 60 degree angle, amp mounted in the wall below the screen or possibly behind the bottom portion of the screen but accessible when the screen is angled .all cables up the disused chimney and into an adjacent cupboard where the pc will be,need to think of some way of turning on the pc remotely.
Must admit SWMBO is not best pleased with this plan and wants a stand alone unit ,which is way to easy IMO
It is preferable for people to think one a fool than to open ones mouth and remove all doubt

Hmmmm... :-\

So what software did you try because i know there is one out there that does have coverflow. I just can't remeber the name right now i am sure it's on of the ones listed in the wiki though.

Hi

Quite a few ,its not a paying thing, I am willing to pay for a decent prog
I tried your baby a few times but I have 75 gig of mp3s in a folder called music on the desktop this has a lot of my daughters hardhouse and dance music ,now I don't mind a bit of it but I will never play all of it so i created a folder in c:jukebox music and copied 25 gig into it but I didn't seem to find a way of pointing freebox to this folder and it just wanted to scan the drive and put all my mp3 files into the player,it probably a RTFI problem on my part but I have been using Itunes for years now and have got used to that.
Had a bit of an issue with videos as it wont play Itunes music vids, this is the only thing I buy from Itunes, had an issue with Touchtone3 not playing the videos even tho' it was supposed to be running Itunes in the background.
Also Freebox screen very dark and needs some nice bright skins, mind you so does Itunes .
Tried a prog called Skorpion first looks on the youtube video looked promising but turned out to be not very configuable also bit of a dreary skin,Support forums full of weird links to porn sites and no support whatsoever for the program not sure if its a eastern European site or what .In comparison I like the way you can open an album in Albumplayer and edit it ,about three clicks to add album art just by copy and paste done,AP had a good stab at getting the album art for the 25 gig of music but it seems to load the first image it comes to when there are probably better resolution pics on the same google page ,As I have said the software part is proving to be quite interesting.
