WG D9500 No OSD, No Signal
« on: March 14, 2009, 03:47:51 pm »
I just purchased a new WG D9500 (19" tri-sync), which I have connected to an AVGA PCI-E card in a new PC.  Trouble!  When I plug directly into the VGA  (D-Sub) port on the chassis, I get NO SIGNAL reported on the monitor (it shows fine on an LCD at 640x480 16bit from the AVGA D-sub).  I can see behind the NO SIGNAL swiggly lines that are clearly the windows desktop or MaLa screen, so part of the signal is making it through.

Perhaps unrelated, but... the OSD controller does not work.  Pressing the OSD button (or any other button) will not bring up the OSD on the monitor.  It is plugged in snugly on both ends.

There was a post a while back that suggested that using the D-sub on the WG chassis would not work - and that you needed to use the VGA cord provided by WG and connect the various plugs from that cord to the neck board and chassis.

ANY THOUGHTS?  I am desperate - family will kill me if I keep this open, non-working hunk of wood and metal (cocktail cabinet) in the family room for much longer  :'(

Thank you for any advice!

Check the refresh rate setting. Windows may have by default chosen a refresh rate that doesn't jive with the monitor. You should be able to change that quite easily.

FIXED: WG D9500 No OSD, No Signal
« Reply #2 on: August 14, 2009, 06:07:32 pm »
Update - all is well.  Got it working - followed advice.   I had somehow set the resolution on the card to 352x288, which the monitor could not display.  Should have been an obvious problem, but the wiring setup for the VGA cable on the WG D9500 is confusing and not well documented, so I assumed that I had made a mistake there first.

Fixing it required uninstalling the card in Device Manager, then rebooting and reinstalling the drivers.  The safe mode installing method worked, but did not reset the resolution for some reason (even after using the ATI uninstall program).

NOTE: With this monitor, you must use the VGA cord provided by WG rather than using the D-sub plug mounted on the chassis.

Sorry for the late update - skimmed the board and noticed that I left this topic open.

Does your OSD also work now then ?
