I've been dying to see this, but I hate crowds so I waited.
I thought Rorschach and the Comedian were perfectly cast... I'm happy and surprised they didn't portray the Comedian as less of a scumbag. The credits which showed some backstory from the Minutemen not directly involved with the Watchmen movie was incredible, but probably lost on anyone who didn't read the comic, even though the story backed them up*
There were a couple things that disappointed me, I'll leave some space for anyone that hasn't seen the movie to bail

For as close as it followed the comic in the early parts, where you could literally see spots where individual frames lingered for a second, I don't like that they changed up the ending. Most people refer to it as The Squid, but thats actually doing it a disservice. It was a psychics brain, and while it caused physical damage during the teleport, the real power of it was that it sent out a wave of death... Basically the feeling his brain felt when he was dying. It literally made your body die from the thought. Thats very powerful stuff. The thing that totally saved it was leaving in the ending part with Rorschach's journal, since that incriminates Viet/Ozymandias.
I knew the Black Freighter parts were edited out, and I was OK with that, but was kind of bummed that the comic reading kid and newspaper guy were only on screen for a couple seconds when the weapon was teleported into NY. I hear the directors cut of the movie will have the Black Freighter motion comic cut back in (its out on DVD), but wonder if that will also include more footage of the kid and newspaper guy. A lot happened around the newspaper stand that made the ending powerful.
Found some of the music choices a bit literal and overdone, but didn't detract from the story.
*Dollar Bill getting killed after he got his cape caught in the door was shown in the beginning then mentioned in the main part of the movie. Also there was Comedians reference in the movie to Hooded Justice being gay when he knocked him off Silk Spectre I.
OK, I feel incredibly nerd-like.

I give it an 8 out of 10.
