Question on BIOS
« on: March 10, 2009, 10:24:37 pm »
My arcade computer has American Megatrends BIOS on it. I can't seem to find an option under 'Power Management' to allow for 'Boot when power is applied' or some such option. I've never really messed with my BIOS aside from changing boot orders, so can anyone suggest what to do? Should I switch to a different version, and if so, suggestions? I really don't want to add another button to the cab...

There may not be anything you can do about it.  you could check on the motherboard manufacturer's website to see if there are any new bioses you could download and try. Be careful to match the exact model of motherboard-you can essentially brick your motherboard pretty easily if you screw up.

A lot of motherboard vendors will purposely reduce the amount of options available in the bios to simplify the test/qualification process and to also make less of a support headache when customers change something they shouldn't have.   I suspect your BIOS just may have been simplified and that option was removed.  (or the hardware doesn't support it, but that's a different matter)

I was afraid of that... It's a pretty low end MB since I never planned on it being pushed hard, Pitfall II doesn't need many options =p

Guess it's a trip to Autozone to find a blue rocker switch then, thanks for your help!
