Yeah, I know the rings do convergence, but the crazy thing is this thing has a "convergence" board that has 5 pots and a ton of components on it. I replaced that and the convergence is now adjustable, but the issue still remains with the top of the screen having a 1/2 in "squiggle" in it. I also dont really want to mess with tube convergence, because I don't know how to feed it the right signal to make sure that I converge it correctly. Right now I am using a pc with a avga, and a soft15khz rig feeding it 640x240 and displaying a bunch of grids to see if I can reign it in.
I am a pretty darn good solderer, I think I am just going to take a crack at re flowing the "picture" board. I have also read a bunch about this monitor having issues with a huge red capacitor block going bad, and having an affect on convergence, picture, and random shut offs. I think I'll start re flowing and see if I can find any cold solder joints to touch up. I'll let ya know where I'm at:-)
