Anyone have a capkit for a pvm-2530 sony monitor?
« on: March 10, 2009, 05:17:25 am »
Hey there!
I have a monitor right now that I have had kicking around, along with tons of others, that is needing a tad of work on it. Some of the issues are with the convergence, that I have managed to fix by throwing a new board in with some new caps, but this thing has a lot of boards, and I don't know where to start. There is a very slight wave to the very top 1/2 inch where the screen very slightly bows, and I was hoping to be able to get rid of this.

In addition, any links you may have in addition for some parts suppliers that would be able to source the parts I may need would also be really apprenticed. Thanks in advance!

Actually, you can't fix convergence by swapping chassis.

The yoke is doing the convergence and the rings and little converging strips do the job of adjusting convergence.

I think you will need to assemble the cap-kit list yourself this is not a "well known" monitor.

Yeah, I know the rings do convergence, but the crazy thing is this thing has a "convergence" board that has 5 pots and a ton of components on it. I replaced that and the convergence is now adjustable, but the issue still remains with the top of the screen having a 1/2 in "squiggle" in it. I also dont really want to mess with tube convergence, because I don't know how to feed it the right signal to make sure that I converge it correctly. Right now I am using a pc with a avga, and a soft15khz rig feeding it 640x240 and displaying a bunch of grids to see if I can reign it in.

I am a pretty darn good solderer, I think I am just going to take a crack at re flowing the "picture" board. I have also read a bunch about this monitor having issues with a huge red capacitor block going bad, and having an affect on convergence, picture, and random shut offs. I think I'll start re flowing and see if I can find any cold solder joints to touch up. I'll let ya know where I'm at:-)
