Ideas for project

This isn't arcade related, but this board is filled with crafty people so I'm hoping one of you have an idea that will help me.

I'm going to build this light box this weekend and install it into my desk, but the guy who made the one in the included picture used silicone seam gel in the gaps between the edge of the glass and the desk.  Sure, this would secure the glass so it wouldn't wiggle, but it seems like it would look ugly and unprofessional.  Not to mention that it would feel weird, I think.  Can anyone think of something better to use that doesn't require a high degree of skill/experience with craftsmanship?  It has to be something available locally cos it's for a birthday present that's coming up in about a week.

Thanks
