a friend of mine had some games on his pc.  he gave me an old copy. it was mame32. version 0,37,0,0 i tried loading it and got an error message about zlib.dll not being loaded. the disc is 10 mb. i was wondering ifs its just the old mame software, or are there games on it also?

I don't think it has to do with anything mame related. I sounds more like a compression program issue, like you don't have a zip compatible extractor.
