High Scores for Pre-Mame v1.07u2

I am running a pre-v1.07 mame and know that the high scores feature is in here somewhere. I have managed to download a highscore.dat from http://highscore.mameworld.info/download.htm. But before I try any of the tutorials on the same site to get the highscore feature to work, I wanted to ask is this how I do it, or is there a simpler way? Thanks.

Anyone? I really like high score keeping and don't have the time to fiddle with it. If anyone knows how to set it up please let me know. Thank you.

All you need to do is:
1) drop the hiscore.dat in the same folder as the mame.exe
2) make sure there is a folder named "hi" along with the other folders (like roms, snap, etc.)

That is it! :-)

Aha. I was putting the highscore.dat in the hi file itself. Didn't think to put it in just the mame folder with the mame.exe damnit. Thanks man, you saved my... high scores in frogger from never being wipred out again  ;D
