PS3 HDMI Died on me...any idea's? 'Fixed'
« on: February 24, 2009, 12:21:37 pm »
hi  ???

basically had a 60gb PS3 for a year or so ! worked loyaly on component on my old tv for all that time but i was lucky to get the old HD tv from my parents and rigged it up over hdmi ! it has worked for... 2 months... suddenly go to turn it on and it just won't show anything ! soooo i hold the power button but instead of reseting video it brings up some wierd option menu over scart about resetting to defaults or something... so i click that and have now lost allll my stuff ! good job for me i backed up last week !

so its kinda working blurily over scart but why wont it work over hdmi ! surly the port hasn't broken on a £350 console !

thanks for looking in

Have you tested your PS3 using the component cables? I ask because i had a similar problem and tested that and found that it worked fine.  I was actually lucky enough to have two HDMI ports on my TV and eventually found that it was the port i had it on that was actually at fault.  If you have access to another HDMI cord or port attempt changing them, However i have seen a few of the HDMI ports on things just stop working.

good luck

hum crisis seems to be over.... i unplugged my TV and PS3 for ten minutes plugged them back in and rammed the HDMI cable.. with some gentle persuasion into them both and fiddled with the settings and the HDMI picture came back first time.... odd xD i then had to restore all my files    also after much frustration fiddling about lugging the modem and router upstairs to try a direct cable to the PS3  found it was still NAT type 3 and that my Thomson speedtouch 510 was a pile of junk xD so i kinda have 2 options in either coughing up for a adsl router... or putting up with this crap for another year xD for what its worth my router (ethernet) is a belkin N one and it cost a lot a year or so ago when i got it so i don't particularly wanna get rid of it because the modem won't forward the ports properly.

still problem fixed
