The dreamarcade (nothing to do with dream arcades)
« on: February 18, 2009, 05:48:27 am »
This is an unfinished project, that has been transformed about ten times. It started off as a dual screen bartop for fighting game fans(me). I couldn't do much woodwork because I sucked at woodwork, so it was dropped. Eventually I still wanted a cab so I looked on craigslist, found one for free. I began my work.

Turned out to be a birdie king converted to an arkonoid, converted to a topspeed. Most of the parts were labeled inside while I was ripping them out. I took a piece of osb and made a shelf that held my dreamcast (hence the name) and was going to put a crt monitor in there via VGA connection. well a didn't like how at an angle my crt would turn purple, considering i'd be looking down at my monitor. So off to my favorite pawnshop. Got a 15" for $40 worked great till someone scratched it. The guy did it by accident, and offered to buy a new one at the same pawn shop. Got a 17" this time(all the guy had) and did not have to pay for it! So I have this nice monitor, but needed to be mounted differently. So the plan was to Take two blocks of wood, Put some blots into one of them, drill some holes that match up with the ones of the monitor that went to the stand for it, Put some machine screws that fit through those holes into the monitor(scary) , then using wood screws, connect the block with bolts to the block mounted on the monitor. than mount the whole setup onto a piece of osb. I painted a makeshift bezel onto a piece of plexi with a smaller tinted piece of plexi under it. looks good, for the setup. Not the best picture for a dc, but it's lightweight. I'll show pictures later, along with more details. My hand is killing me at the moment.
Newbie in working on cabs, expert in playing, breaking, moving slowly, and overall failing at them too.
