MTG-2902SN (Happ Vision Pro/Tovis) Manual?
« on: February 17, 2009, 12:50:21 am »
I have a MTG-2902SN from Happ (Vision Pro line, appears to be made by Tovis), but I have no manuals.  I don't necessarily need a manual at this time, but I would very much like to have a copy of the service (or at least user) manual and/or schematic for possible eventual servicing.  Anyone happen to have a copy?

Happ hardly lists this on their website anymore, though I could try calling them about it.  Google has returned no useful results (a few dead links, mostly).

Seems the Tovis homepage in English is down.

Once again, you are the man with the connections.  Thanks, they have exactly what I wanted: an informative (if brief) manual.

And yes, Tovis's english homepage was one of the broken links I mentioned.  I'm kinda surprised that page you linked to doesn't show up in google since some of what I was searching should have hit it.

Hum, I just noticed that the manual calls for an A68QBC230X LG tube while mine has an A68AJB82X (made in USA, believe it or not) which looks to be substantially older.  Everything works, though, and it looks like the swap was done professionally (likely by Happ, given some of the stickers).

Any reason to be concerned about this at all?  I'm not familiar with CRT xrefs.  Non-center convergence is kinda off (about 1.5mm "off" 1/3 of the way down the screen vertically), but that may just be the convergence/purity rings need adjustment.

likely just a diff mfg.

the tube operating parmeters are obviously close enough . so, not really a concern .

besides, crts are "almost"  interchangable within the same family size/type....

I'm looking at picking one of these up locally. I was told it was tri-sync, but after looking at the documentation, it looks like it won't do CGA resolution. Am I mistaken?
Also, here is a picture of the input on this monitor and it says EGA, CGA, and VGA...
I really need a monitor capable of 15khz.

The documentation says EGA, VGA, SVGA only.  Supported scanrate range is said to be 22kHz-40kHz.  I accidentally fed it 1280x960 for a moment, and it displayed it, though I turned it off quickly due to concerns of damage.  It does support shutting itself down on out of range signals as UXGA (1600x1200) results in an "I give up" screen.

CGA may work, but I have not tried.  The game I wanted to use it on actually runs VGA.  It's not overly likely to damage it if you try.  If it makes really awful noises or has very distorted display, best to remove the signal quickly.

The CGA indication on the board is just likely because that input module is used on several models.
