Mala and Video SnapShot
« on: February 13, 2009, 10:22:42 am »
In the Mala Front End Editor I see that I can add video section. This has been done. I have setup the Mame video folder and have added a video with the ROM name (extension is wmv).

It doesn't show? I would like to have something like this :

Where can I get some information about how to make it works because google only show me video of people that have done it without any link to any tutorial. I have checked the Wiki of Mala

You have to make sure that your layout has a video box defined in it.  If it doesn't, your video won't show up.  Also, did you set up the videos folder in the Mala configuration?

If you want to define the video box over top of the snapshots, just use the mala layout editor, and add it in.  Draw a box over top of the snapshots box.  This way if there is no video, you will still see the snapshot.

Good luck!

Also, to note, i've heard a lot of people have problems with videos playing in the background during gameplay (i.e. mala not stopping videos before launching the game).  Not sure if any of this is true, but I just avoided using videos myself for the moment.  They just take more room up on the HD that is better spent on games.  ;D

I found something that helped me and now it works.

This thread : http://forum.arcadecontrols.com/index.php?topic=62382.0

My PC was reformated and I haven't any Codec. Mala use only Xvid... so I used something to convert my wmv to .avi (Xvid) and it works!

Wow Mala manual is so under documented  :banghead:
