What cabinet is this?
« on: February 12, 2009, 09:55:03 am »
The guy tried to tell me it was an original UMK3 cabinet :laugh2:!  Any ideas what it might have been?  He wants $475 for it.

looks pretty generic. Combat-tribes?

Battletoads?

Ah Battletoads would be sweet!  You can see the 3 player coin slots which is what intrigues me.  I'm stumped.

Edit:  I think it may have been Battletoads

If that is the original Battletoads cab in the picture.

I would imagine so. The cabs match and I can't think of any other three player cabinet built like that. Of course, I'm not intimately familiar with ALL three player cabs, so I may be wrong. Even though the CP pictured there is chopped all to hell and not original, you can kind of see how it's supposed to be laid out and how it might fit on a properly shaped 3P CP.

Have the guy open the control panel and look from the underside.
Unless it's totally custom built, it will have remnants of the old three player layout.

NO Mortal Kombat came in that style cabinet.
And yeah, the three coin slot coin door is kinda a dead giveaway that it was a dedicated "something else". (like Battletoads)

I tried to get him to send me pictures of the inside of it, but he says there are locks on the front and back panels and he doesn't have a key.  He did send me some closeups and it's pretty beat up.  He's about a hour and a half away from me and he wants $475 for it.  I think that's too much for that cab.  Plus, I don't think it's work the drive.

I'll probably just wait for the auction that coming at the end of the month.

  • Yeah, owning a MAME cab only leads to owning real ones. MAME just isn't good enough. It's a gateway drug.

Jesus, three players on 19" vertical monitor? Anyways, I wouldn't care. Perfect mame candidate, although I'd modify the CP box, and cut the corners off the sides. Of course, I wouldn't pay more than a hundred-fifty, regardless.
