Value of near collector quality PinBot?
« on: February 10, 2009, 08:42:11 pm »
I havent seen it yet but a guy in my area has one he claims to be collector quality but I'm sure its not quite that good.  He'll sell for $600.

Good deal?

600 sounds fair for any near collector quality IMO.

I dont disagree.  I'm doubting it is really in that good of shape though.  Anyone have any opinions on the game play of this machine?  It has really great reviews but it is an older game so it doesnt have the toys of a 90's DMD game.  Not that those qualities make games that great but they certainly look cooler.

$600.00 for a pinbot is a good price, really it is.

$600.00 for a minty pinbot is difficult to believe just due to the sheer popularity of that game & the fact its nearly a quarter of a century old.

I hope its minty & $600.00 however, then when you tire of it I can buy it for $601.00

Keep us posted & get upload pics if you get it.............you seem to really be "on the hunt" for a machine so any day now  ;D

I don't know enough about Pin-Bot to really comment but I ---HATED--- Dr. Who which is a recycle of the same playfield.  I spent weeks tearing that game apart and rebuilding it, and my wife walked away on the second ball and said, "I HATE this game, get rid of it" and I had to admit I agreed with her.

That being said, I know a couple of south Texas collectors with major boners for this game.  One of them has piled up enough spare parts that he'll be able to play it until he dies (playfields, cabinets, extra machines, boards, LED displays, you name it).

$600 for one in great shape is probably a heck of a deal.  They rarely change hands except in beat condition.

Funny you say that, there is a dealer in the area who just e-mailed me tonight with saying he just got a Doctor Who in and would sell shopped for $1350.  I looked this game up and my initial thought was how much it looked like a PinBot playfield.

Well I think if its still available on Sat or Sun and its in good to great shape I'll have to pounce on it.  Sounds like at the very least I could sell in 6 months or so and make my money back or heaven forbid a little profit.

Off Topic - Where are you working in KC?  I live in KC, but I am in Florida right now.  It always seems like the best pins come available when you are 1500 miles away.  I saw what looked to be a really nice Theatre of Magic for sale in KC a week ago.
Pins:  Theatre Of Magic, JP The Lost World, Revenge From Mars

I'm working in the Mirriam/Lenexa KS area.  I'm leaving in about one hour.  I checked the KC CL last night - didnt see anything that really peaked my interest though.

STL CL seems to have a better selection than KC most of the time.

$600 is a great deal for a high mint Pinbot.  Around 18 months ago I sold a HUO Pinbot for $1500.  Market is different now but not THAT different.

 :soapbox:
Yeah...keep kicking yourself.  That was a bonehead move.   Could have easily made $500.00 if it was in average shape, but if it was in collector's quality condition, you could have made at least 3 times that.  Or, you could have kept it and had a score to be proud of.   Hope this helps.

Dr. Who is a game that grows on you after a while. I hated it at first too.

WTF?

And really why cant we just let this thread die?  I really can appreciate all the "you  :censored: up" comments that are now popping up 3 months later, but still, stop it already.

Jeez, stop your whining already. You win some, you lose some. CyberFLEX let a nice Rollergames slip though his fingers @ $250. I then let a nice Sorcerer slip through mine @ $200!

Dr. Who is a fun game once you play it for a while, just like many video games that suck the first few times you play it (Donkey Kong, Mario Bros, etc).

Actually I was trying to figure out why you randomly incorporated a personal opinion of Dr. Who in this thread?   Were you trying to compare it to Pinbot or something?

I could obviously tell your part of the thread was dead. Dr. Who was discussed for a few posts, so I threw my 2 cents in. Cry your pardon wise one.

Wait you mean you didnt buy that Pinbot, seriously?

LOL, just kidding man

Dude you know damn well everyone selling their pinball machine says its mint. Then when you get there its surrounded by ashtrays & the redneck you meet says "oh that thing there is supposed to move, really?".

It was prob a POS man, if it were mint the person owning it would know it & sell it for more. People only let ---steaming pile of meadow muffin--- go cheap because they know they have a POS & they know you will know it too................unless you snipe an auction.

Before some of you claim to have acquired an AFM for 2 boxes of girlscout cookies & a stale cigar there are always exceptions to what I said but not often, otherwise the term "market value" wouldn't exist.
