"try to leave" means what?  Go to another emulator?  Which emulator? Quit Mala?  How are you "leaving"?  Key press?  Mouse Click from the right-click menu?  You need to do some experimentation so you can give more details.

I'm thinking an incompatible screenshot, but that doesn't explain why it happens when you "try to leave".

So when i enter into Mame (its on the top of my list) and then exit back into the emulator screen it crashes and does not do this with any other emulator

Ok i also made it so mala displays the console or arcade machine picture when it is selected by getting the pictures and putting them in the marquee folder then naming it as the emulator  that has something to do with it

This only happens when control panel and marquees are turned on

Mala is not compatible with certain types of images. RGB images do not work.  Either your marquee images or control panel images are crashing Mala.

The Problems has nothing to do with the type of pictures

You deduced this how?  You turn off control panel images and marquee images and the problem goes away.  Yet it has nothing to do with the pictures?  If its not indexed color, it will crash Mala.  Are there other details that you haven't posted?
