I seem to recall reading somewhere that there is a way to display scores for DL, DL2 and SA in daphne?   Anyone know how that is done?

yea its like -useoverlaysb or something.
If you use daphne loader turn on the scores in the config for the games. Those you listed are the only ones that have those options. Then check the daphne log so you can see the exact command givin.

You can do it using a real scoreboard, or with an overlay from the command line (-useoverlaysb <overlay number>).  I think it's also an option in the configuration menu, so you can turn it on there and then check the log for the correct command.
I may not have gone where I intended to go, but I think I have ended up where I needed to be.

Hahahaha!! Its cool man. I cant remember teh exact command per game. I know its -useoverlaysb 0 r 1 depending on the game and it does matter as the command wont work the same way for all games.

On a side not I wonder what MAMEDEV plans are when it comes to emulating the scoreboard.
