Annoying PC Monitor issue!
« on: January 23, 2009, 04:05:18 pm »
Arrgh!!

So last night I get home SUPER stressed from work and wanted to play some SHMUPS on my machine, fired it up and noticed something after MAMEwah loaded up; the image wasn't filling the entire PC screen. There was a 1/2" black border around the edges of the image, centered. This happened once before and fixed itself after a re-boot ... but not last night ... not even after 3 reboots.

Grrr! SOOoooo, I had to lift out the monitor glass, remove the bezel and adjust the image size using the monitor's OSD. All better .. I even checked it this afternoon before I left for work; and all is well. This is puzzling to me ... what could cause this? I don't use the PC for anything but MAME, and it always auto-launches MAMEwah at startup.

One (possible) thing that I noticed is that I have my monitor's refresh rate set to 85htz, but MAMEwah is running at 75htz .. there is an "other" option for refresh rates in the MAMEwah layout designer; should I set this also to 85htz?

Thanks in advance ...

Yes.

;D Thank you, I'll change it when I get home tonight .. any idea why this only now started to happen?

Well, do you know which one (desktop or Mamewah) changed?

Sorry for the late reply .. actually, it was both; the windows desktop also was "shrunk" by ~1/2" on all sides.

It hasn't happend again, and I heve yet to change the MameWah refresh rate to 85htz .. too lazy (actually, too busy chasing high scores  )

Mmm. I have noticed Windows will sometimes get looped from a switch to another resolution, though only with my PC monitor. With my multisync it almost never, if ever, does this.
