The mailman stole my new NES
« on: January 21, 2009, 01:26:28 pm »
Sometimes the free market is not as good as public services. For example mail packages. Today I was supposed to receive my new NES system with Zapper and Mario Bros 3, but I was not at home, I asked the neighbour to collect it, and he saw the mailman take my note and run away with the package. Also very common today is to hit big packages through the slot with a fist when the package is slightly bigger then the slot. Faster then ringing the bell and waiting for answer. I wish they make mail-delivery a constitutional right here like in the USA. Crap service!  :badmood:  :dizzy: :hissy:

Your neighbor saw the mailman take it? I would say your neighbor has a new NES system with Mario Bros 3. ;)

They have something familiar with the Mario bros when they are retired and 75  8) , so I guess you're right.

TNT-post ?

Never had any problems with them. No note that he tried to deliver the package ?

Probably Selektvracht. They really hire retarded, unfriendly, off the street, alcoholic, non showering people to deliver using cars not going to get through the next APK annual road allowance check. Hey, who else delivers for 50ct's per package?

I wish they make mail-delivery a constitutional right here like in the USA.

Shoot ..... Every time I order something or mail something I say a little prayer.
"constitutional right" .... ha !! More like paying an arm and a leg for uncertainty.

In the US, you just have to pay a modest, and it is modest, fee for tracking mail. I've always been too tight, and now I'm missing a thirty-dollar item, likely for good.

Phew! It wasn't my NES, it was not sent yet. So it must have been the photo job prints I ordered that he took. Well the company on that is very relaxed on resending lost or damaged goods.

So, if someone mails you a package and you're not there to collect it, the mailman keeps it for themselves instead of trying to redeliver it the next day?  Thats insane.

You have a camcorder or webcam? Set it up to show the front door and anyone coming at it. If the mailman walks away with the package and you dont get it (this is for your forth-coming NES) then you have video evidence that it was mail fraud (via the delivery person). Atleast they will lose their job, at most you may get compensated.

Actually I believe mail theft is a serious federal offense.
I would get the police involved.

Yep, that's the way it always goes here. I've ordered a ton of things from the US, UK, Germany and every time that ---goshdarn--- mailman ends up with the package. He must have a warehouse full of them by now..............

We also still cook and eat people here, burn witches and wear wooden shoes.

................

Blanka mentioned it was Selektvracht, probably the worst (Dutch) "mail" company that you can do business with. They don't hire people, they pay them by the parcel, and they are driving their own cars that are usually so old they are almost falling apart. The "mailmen" of this company are the kind you wouldn't trust your mother-in-law with.

It's worse then UPS.

I've NEVER had a package get lost. I've ordered LOTS of stuff from the US, UK, Germany etc.. From Bob Roberts, GGG, arcadeshop.com, ThisOldGame.com, TNTamsusements, Mamemarquees.com and a number of people here on this forum and KLOV plus of course the E-bay stuff.

Not ONCE did I not receive my stuff. As long as you ship USPS to The Netherlands, the shipping is handled by the former national post company, now called TNT-Post and no matter what you may think of them they never let me down.

I prefer USPS/TNT-Post over all others (DHL, DPD, UPS you name them) because I can get my package at the nearest post office (well "service point" actually) that is only half a mile away from my home in case I'm not home when they try to deliver it. I always get a note that they tried to deliver the package and that it can be picked up the next day.

They are very reliable, and cheap compared to the others. First Class international is the way to go, Priority does nothing extra really.

Blanka, some of the US guys are hesitant of sending stuff international already, don't make them unnecessarily scared..... ;)

For the Dutch, I was right about the people at Selektvracht being paid per package AND having to use their own cars:
http://www.selektvracht.nl/index.jsp?USMID=117&MID=904

I guess they guy was running because he gets paid by the package.....
Maybe he'll try and deliver again today ? Also: some shippers specifically instruct the shipping company NOT to deliver stuff at neighbors (Like Apple does with UPS, I can understand that), so even if he read your note, he may not have been allowed to deliver it at your neighbors.

Site says Selektvracht is actually part of DHL now...... :S
