Any Battlestar Galatica (new) fans out there?
« on: January 21, 2009, 08:44:42 am »
Anyone catch last week's (finally) new episode?

Wonder who the 5th Cylon really is?

Spoiler Space

I wonder if the whole thing with Col. Tigh at the end
is just a dream sequence and not really a clue that
his wife is the fifth Cylon... somehow that makes no
sense.  If she isn't the fifth Cylon, then it becomes more
like a "Who Shot JR?" dream sequence and that's no
good either though... Yuk.

I took that to mean that she is really the fith Cylon. The main question now is, what is Starbuck??

I have been a fan of this series from day one, the thing that annoys me about though is the fact that they will put out a handful of episodes at a time (no where near a full season) and then make you wait over a year for new episodes. I think this just kills peoples interest in it.

Well this is the final season.  No more half seasons or any of that b.s.  The last few half seasons or whole seasons or whatever the ---fudgesicle--- they were, weren't nearly as good as the first few. I'm hoping these next few weeks really get things moving in the right direction.

I'm not sure who #5 is or what Starbuck is.  The funeral pyre may not have been a smart move as there is no "evidence" left to do any testing on.

Either way, I hope there is a plan as opposed to just writing random ---steaming pile of meadow muffin--- to happen to them.  I remember the original series fondly and even saw the movie in the late 70s at the theater.  Love this series overall.

I thought it was revealed that the last Cylon was Ellen Tigh. Which makes sense, she's dead so she didn't "activate" when the other final five activated.

I'm looking forward to the final episodes. It took long enough. :)

So is there a resurrection ship or complex nearby for her to come back?

I liked the last episode - lots going on in it.

I find myself watching it over and over again.  Fine acting.

That's a good point. I'm guessing there was some way of resurrecting on New Caprica because Starbuck killed that one Cylon several times during the occupation, and he didn't have any trouble coming back.

We might not have seen the last of Ellen.

On the rumor mill I've heard that Starbuck is the first cylon/human hybrid.

Me and my wife sat down to watch it and I was screaming "WTF!'. My wife was confused  which was usual when the first episode of the season begins...My best friend who is away at college texted me and he said he cried.

I am so worried that this series that I have watched since the beginning is going to end on a down note ...like the stupid alien is actually Jodi Foster's father from the "Contact" movie.

And the whole "who is the fifth cylon"  that I have been wondering who was who since the last season...It cant be the cougar ---stingray---. (ty's wife)...

You know... that's about the only idea that makes any sense at this point.

And if that's the case, it gets a huge "meh" from me.   :dunno

I too think this series was wayyy better in the early seasons.
Wonder if it was another casualty of the writers' strike from
awhile back?

My wife and I were talking about this this morning as we are looking forward to watching the new episode tonight. I have a new theory (speculation) about what might be going on. If we look at what we know, we know that Starbuck was somehow resurrected. We also know that her viper was "resurrected". Cylons don't resurrect ships (or non "skinjob" cylons for that matter)which means someone built her viper.... someone is still out there. So whatever Starbuck was I think it is safe to assume that she is all Cylon now. In the flashback sequences that Ty and the Chief had I noticed that all the ancient Cylons were different... no two were alike. My theory is that at some point in time the ancient Cylons were actually human.... (classic cheat death cyborg plot) which would explain a lot about the behavior of the 5. Just my theory.... until this evening of course  :)

I have a theory that is shared by my friends that Starbuck is a "Being of Light" one of the concepts that was touched on in the original series that has yet to be looked at here...

In "Scar", didn't Athena say that they do resurrect raiders as it was much more efficient than having to spend months training nuggets ?

Oh yea, that's right. Now that you said that, I remember that's the episode in which Starbuck was dealing with a particularly angry raider... one that had been resurrected may times and was not happy about it. I still think she's been resurrected as a Cylon though, and I still think that the ancient ones were at one point human. I mean it makes sense to me, but that is one of the coolest things about this show... all the plot twists and curve balls. Lots of "I didn't see that one coming!"

Lots of making it up as they go along too...   :banghead:

I'm voting for not a cylon.  Seems like that's what they want us to think so when they decide what the deal is, it'll be a shock to us.

I remember when they had that episode where Starbuck was in one of those "baby" hospitals the cylons set up on Caprica to mix breed with the humans, they took something out of her.  Knowing that she was a favorite of Adama,  maybe they cloned her with the view that she would bring destruction down on all who followed her.

She is not a cylon or a replicant, she is a clone in a captured viper made to look like her own.  That way the corpse in the cockpit was the real Starbuck as ther tags was still attached with Zaks ring.

I agree someone is pulling strings here.  Something we have not seen yet.  Remember the classic series with the Emperor?  Are we going to see something similar?  We saw human experiments and classic cylons once before.

I can just hear the rumor mill starting to crank up.  ;D

Well, considering these are the final 10 episodes and they have all been filmed, it's safe to say that they have already decided what the deal is... and we just need to sit back and watch!

As he discussed here, the show’s executive producer, Ronald D. Moore, wrote "Battlestar's" final episode, which, as written, is three hours long (a wild guess here: Sci Fi probably wouldn’t air the whole thing in one night). Mary McDonnell described her reaction to the script this way: It filled her with "an incredible feeling of adrenaline,” she told Ain't It Cool News. “It made me understand the entire saga, and made me excited for all of you.”

Doesn't mean they didn't make it up as they wound the series down.   ;D

Wait... When did Starbuck get a sex change? 1980 season? I'm not following here... Never heard of a human/cylon mix.. They wouldnt do that, considering that cylons only want to destroy humans... (1980 season was the best, IMHO).

I'm assume you're being sarcastic because Galactica 1980 was horrible.  Time travel, invisibility, and "Super Scouts"...  Besides, Starbuck was dead by that point (only made a guest appearance in the origin story of their genius leader).
