filmracing.com -- vote request

A guy I use to work with entered this film contest.
They give you a general theme and a surprise action or object that needs to be in the film. Then you have 100 hours to write make and edit a movie that's under 5 minutes.

Theme: EVIL
Surprise action: counting money

He's in the top 20.

http://www.filmracing.com/Films/competitions/grandprix2008.htm

Click on the "Click here to vote for your favorite film" then vote for "The Pickup".

After you vote you can watch it and look through the other videos.

;)

I haven't watched all of the top 20 yet but I watched a few of them when the list was still at 70.  Most of them are garbage that looked like they were produced by kids.

A lot of the good were obviously created before the theme was handed out because they are too well written and they are generic enough to fall under any theme.  the only thing they added in was the money counting and you can tell it doesn't belong in the original film.

After seeing how bad the other movies were, some buddies and I figured it’d be fun and easy so we’re planning on entering it next year.

Thanks for your vote.

Audience Award (Online) - "The Pickup"

Unfortunately there isn't any prize for winning the Audience Award, which I guess is a good thing since people can stuff the box, but I really thought there video was better than the all the runner-up's.

Thanks for voting, it’s still nice to have his video on the awards page.

Vote stuffing.....ugh.

I went to the Trail Dance Film Festival in Duncan, OK a few weeks ago and someone clearly stuffed the voting box for Audience Choice Best Poster. I told my friend on the committee they should've thrown the votes out, and he said they were tempted:

Blech!

Online voting is good for getting people to visit a website, but I never understood why some websites would give real prizes for an online election.

This site was set up to only allow one vote per IP address, which can still be 'fixed', but since there wasn't any prize for first place it wasn't worth the trouble.

It was fine this morning.  I can still get to it, but half the images are showing up as red Xs.

Most of the videos look like they were done by HS kids and now kids are just getting home from school, so the website must be getting a lot of traffic.
