Concern about *exedy light gun games*
« on: January 12, 2009, 04:22:40 pm »
I downloaded a bunch of bezel art from MrDo's site, and while testing out Crossbow, it crashed on me. This never happened before, and I thought it maybe had something to do with this bezel art ... I was on the 2nd board and the game just dumped, as if I hit the ESC key, putting me back to the MameWah screen.

So far, this has only happened in Crossbow .. I used the "Full Screen" option under video settings. Any ideas/insight/tips? Thanks in advance.

So a leper walks into a bar and as he gets his beer, a finger falls off. The bartender who is serving him turns and pukes all over the place. The leper, feeling bad, says, "Was it my finger falling off?" The bartender turns to him and says, "No, it's the guy dipping chips into your back."

It was probably caused by a corrupt file.Try deleting it and redownload it.

First thing to do in any such circumstance is try to repeat the phenomenon. If it doesn't happen again, you have no reason to think it's going to, and nothing to use to troubleshoot.

Thanks, I'll test it out some more tonight.

This appears to be a recent regression in the set/driver not related to artwork issues.  I'm assuming you are using the latest 0.129 build?

I'm trying to isolate the issue more, but it seems to happen on the on the 3rd screen if you choose red each time (crossing over the river on the bridge).  On top of that, it's not 100% consistent in crashing.

EDIT:  Got a save state and was able to reliably reproduce the issue.  Posted at MAMETesters.

Oh, actually, I'm using .128 ... interesting though; I was using version .110, and never had this issue, but also only recently went to .128 (for several games, including crossbow) and also just recently added the artwork .. co-incidence??

Sorry to bump an old topic, but it happened again this weekend, playing Chiller. I have no supplimental artwork in this game, and same symptoms; after a fewminutes of play, the game just exits.

*note* I'm using a mouse for the controls, as I have no light guns, not sure if this has anything to do with it though. Mame version .128

Don't play it thru the front end, that way if there is an error message you're more likely to see it.

Brilliant!  :afro: Thanks, will do so when I get home late tonight and report my findings  :)
