Dumb MameWah question IN gamename
« on: June 22, 2003, 10:13:24 pm »
I added an emulator... in specific z26 and pointed to my roms directory and told it to use the .bin extension

I generated a gamelist...  and a handful of the games are OK

but a siginifigant amount are listed as

IN gamename
IN decathln

I also have some

N Solaris
N gamename

etc etc... what does that mean?  I can run it from the command line alright...

*Shrug

Thanks sorry if it's a retarded question answered elsewhere obvious...

What version of MAMEWAH are you running?  This was a bug on some systems in v0.90, but I thought (hoped) it was fixed in the latest beta releases.  Which OS are you using?

I'm such a dork to exclude such info... I'm using .90 as I was too lazy to load the .95beta (also was going to wait for it to stabilize a bit and not go bleeding edge =P ) runing xp home

my paths are  d:\emu\mw\
d:\emu\z26\z26.exe
d:\emu\z26\roms
file extnesion thingie...     bin

*shrug*  I could just try .95b , but just wondered if the designation "meant" something.

Thanks!

No worries Rampy, I'm glad you are using v0.90 now :)

I totally re-wrote the list generation part (I realised I had done it a wierd way), so the only way you can correct this problem using v0.90 is to manually edit the '.LST' files, and correct the names yourself - big pain!

To be honest it would be easier to use the latest v0.951b - it is not *too* buggy, especially under XP runs pretty well.  It's a little more tricky than v0.90 to setup, but I think most of the FAQ's have been answered on this board over the past 2 or 3 weeks if you don't mind looking through...of course feel free to ask me any questions anyway tho :)

FWIW the 'IN' and 'N' parts that were appearing are the tail end of the file extension 'BIN'.  I'm not sure why this happened, it never did on my system!

Well, wouldn't it be nice if someone made an actual FAQ out of the answered questions we've seen here over the past 2 or 3 weeks?  :)  I'm just being a pain.  Hell, if you want, I could compile it for you.  I'm not sure if anyone noticed, but I've pretty excited about mamewah lately :)

Well if you'd like to make a FAQ, that'd be great :)

I was not going to bother since I was planning on getting a bug free release out and then make some new docs...but it's taking a bit longer than I thought  ::)

I HAD to open my big mouth.  Allright, I'll compile a FAQ.  I'll only charge you a small fee, too :)  Just kidding.

Hey, no problem.  I think I've decided that mamewah is the FE that I'm going to stick with, so what better way to become an expert?  :)
