Resolution HELP - May B U understand, but I don't. PLZ HELP!
« on: January 10, 2009, 12:03:07 am »
I've read lots of threads, but I guess I still don't understand.

I run MALA and it auto selects a resolution of 640X480, but the screen is very small and hard to read. Sometimes the games will make the screen scroll. I can turn the dial inside the cabinet that controls the monitor, but having to open the conrol panel to access it each time is a pain. Is there a way to fix this?

How do I get MALA to PROPERLY display the games? 640X480 displays them within the box/layout, but any other resolution causes them to not fit the layout. If I turn down the resolution, the names of the games are easier to read, but they don't fit in the screen.

And we have no idea what kind of monitor you are using........or what kind of hardware you are using to connect to it.  ;)

You may need to lower the resolution and then manually adjust the height and width on the monitor itself to fit.
Not a technician . . . . just a DIY'er.

Sounds like stretching is turned off.  Your games are just displaying in their original resolution, so they only take up a fraction of the screen.

Hardware is P4 2.9GHz, 1GB RAM, ArcadeVGA, with a Sharp Image 27" monitor.

After all day yesterday and today, I think I finally almost figured it out.

Some emulators caused the screen to "roll" and I just couldn't figure out how so many of you get all emulators to work without this issue, but trying different emulators seems to have fixed that problem.

As for the hard to read issue, I've made all custom layouts and just bumped up the size of the font. Also, making my own layouts has fixed the issues of the games not fitting the screen.

I only post, just in case others in the future have similar issues. I hope it might help.
