Dark Knight Blu-Ray
« on: January 05, 2009, 03:53:08 pm »
Anyone notice that the aspect ratio changes in the movie?

The bank heist scene fills my widescreen completely.  After the bank scene, the aspect ratio shifts to a wider widescreen (there are black bars above and below the picture).  Later in the movie it shifts to filling the entire screen again.

Weird...

If I remember correctly, it did this in some theaters as well (all theaters? I know at least in the Imax theaters the AR changed), as parts of the movie were shot in the Imax format and other parts were shot in 35mm, so the blu ray aspect ratio changes are true to the way the director filmed it.

Basically same as previous post...

This is supposed to simulate the IMAX presentation.  Certain scenes were filmed specifically for IMAX theaters, I believe.  These scenes were shot in a 1:85 aspect ratio as opposed to the 2.35 the rest of the movie was shot in.
