yes man

it's summer and i'm pretty much going to every movie i can to get out of the heat. except maybe that weddings wars movie...

if you've seen one ad for this movie, you know how it's going to go. that was true of 'bedtime stories' too, but it had some of that childs 'magic' of which shmokes talks about  ;)

what is good about this movie however is that it showcases some great talents. zooey deschanel plays her part well. terrance stamp is excellent as the motivational speaker. and rhys darby is great as carls (jim carrey) boss. rhys darby is a kiwi stand up comedian, better known for playing the part of the manager in the tv show flight of the conchords. he even got to keep his new zealand accent in 'yes man'. if you havent seen flight of the conchords yet. check it out!

but i digress. part of what lets this movie down for me is the fact that careys character at the start reminded me too much of me! i think it will remind quite a few people of themselves. of course the answer in the movie is not practical, so no uplifting feelings there. 'but its a comedy', i hear you say. well yeah, but it wasn't all THAT funny either...

3.5 out of 5. the airconditioning probably added the 0.5  ;D

Well you have been pretty much accurate in your reviews, which reveals we are either on the same mindset, or you are on a lucky streak.  :P

I will go and see this and if you are right on the review, you get the BYOAC Cinema Reviewer official vote from me.

Saw this the other day fully expecting to see Liar Liar 2.  They did manage to avoid that, but they only did it by keeping Carrey under control, which meant his part could have been played by any other comedian just as well.  I'd say around 3 of 5 but the concept had more potential than that.
