rom roleback question
« on: December 28, 2008, 07:08:11 pm »
I have been doing reseach, here and google
I just want to know if I understand this correctly.
I get the newest set of Roms
I get the rollback set of Roms for the same version.
and with clear Mame pro
I can roll back each and every version of Mame?

to be honest I have never used clear Mame pro. I just download it for the 1st time today.
I am going to play with it as soon as I log off

yep thats how it works. But you need the dat file. You can generate one with ClrMamepro and the mame exe. However i think the early ones didn't have the listxml command. But dat files are avaliable for all versions. Also you can get the source code and compile your own using the hi score/no nag screen patch.

Clrmamepro supports old versions of mame from before -listxml, but you have to tell cmp that it's a very old mame.  I'm not sure how far back cmp goes with the prior -listinfo compatiblity, though.
