Wells Gardner 25K7101 Monitor replacement
« on: December 28, 2008, 11:20:42 am »
I have a WG 25K7101 that needs replacement.  I have been looking around and cannot find an exact match.  Can anyone help me either locate a place that has a replacement or help me determine if a Wells Gardner 9800 Monitor will be a good match? I am replacing an old burned up init on a Sammy Corp Deer Hunting game.  Thanks

The 7101 came in two different mounting styles: horizontal (a.k.a. "shelf") mount or Universal mount. The 7101 is standard resolution (CGA) only and requires an isolation transformer for operation.

The 7101 is replaced by the K7400 series (standard resolution only) but it has a different power connector requiring you to buy the power cord dongle adapter (only a few dollars) in order to directly plug into your cabinet's existing monitor power connector. Remember also that 25" monitors have been replaced by 24.8" monitors because of FCC requirements.

What's wrong with your K7000?  They're usually pretty easy to repair.

Thanks for the info.  This one is a shelf mount.

The monitor was quite old and burnt in very badly also the brightness was maxed out and the registration of colors around the screen is not even / top bot left right.  Even the colors were quite weak and dark.  I think the monitor has been degaussed too many times.

Anyway it looks like the flyback transformer on the PCB was overheating and smoking quite badly and there is even strange looking spots about 1"dia on the front inside of the picture tube.

Any recommendations on where to buy a K7400?

well, if it is dark with phosphor burns , the tube is most likely weak from extensive usage .
deguassing is not a factor.

if it were me ( cheap sob ) i'd be changing the crt from a scrap tv...( crt pin outs must match )

If only I could find a 25" tube that fits. I have a K7000 that could use rejuvenating (if I had one that would fit it) or just replacing the tube.

The 7400 series only comes in "universal mount" and not shelf mount.

Here's one place to buy a 7400:
