Saving High Scores in MAME. Is this right? (solved)
« on: December 21, 2008, 12:29:25 am »
Hi all,

My MAME has been running smoothly for months now (v.119) and I applied the "no nag" and "high score save" along with the optimized AMD settings on it when I compiled it.

That said:  On my machine, most games save high scores, but some don't.  I'm wondering if I ever applied the .diff file correctly from the start?  For example:  Games that don't save... Ms. Pacman and Donkey Kong.  Are these supposed to be saving with the high score hack applied?

Thanks in advance!

I figured it out.    :applaud:

It turned out (After further reading) that I needed the hiscore.dat file in the MAME directory and also a "hi" folder for MAME to store the files in once they are created in the game.

Works perfectly now.  :)

I'm just relieved that I don't have to recompile MAME.   8)

Hey can you tell where I can download all the stuff you just mentioned? I'm running Mame plus 0.128 but I'll change to whatever to get rid of the nag screen and save my scores. Thanks
