Anyone heard of Y-Plus Technologies (E-Bay Seller)?
« on: December 17, 2008, 05:39:58 pm »
They are in B.C. and offer a range of Jamma PCB adapters. Has anyone heard of them, or ordered any of their parts before?

Here's an example of a Gallag to Jamma adapter, and a Galaxian to Jamma adapter from this seller on e-bay.

Yaton... they sell Chinese junk.  Sometimes it works fine...other times not so much so.  Avoid their JAMMA switchers...they are absolute garbage.  Also,  they've been accused of taking other peoples designs,  bootlegging them,  and then selling them (as many Chinese distributors do).

They looked cheap, and I had a bad gut feeling about them.

Thanks for the info!

I've bought from him a number of times in the past and the only time I had a problem, he made it right pretty quickly. He does sell a lot of junk that I wouldn't buy, but I have no problems with him as a seller.

I bought a Gallag to JAMMA adapter from him. Don't have any problem with it.

Oh,  I have nothing negative to say about the guy as a seller...I've never bought from him...and I have heard that he is very flexible in regards to returns/exchanges, etc.   I just know he's picking up his supply from China and the majority of it is inferior to other products out there.  Will it work?  I'd guess the majority of it will... but just like Harbor Freight,  when you go in,  do so with the understanding  you're purchasing product that likely is (A) a ripoff of a legitimate product and/or (B) likely an inferior product to others out there... but the benefit is that they're offering it up at a much reduced price.

Like Harbor Freight,  there are certain applications a "cheaper" "less expensive" tool/part comes in handy... but there are times that a "real" tool/part (ie: Craftsman/SnapOn/etc) is a better bet.

I've got news for you Frizzle, EVERYTHING is made in China.  ;D

(we're talking JAMMA adapters here; those aren't exactly complicated devices)

Actually the JAMMA adapters are more complicated than you'd think.

I need to modify the Galaga to JAMMA adapter I got from Yaton. It doesn't have thick enough power traces on the 5v line and the board itself actually gets very warm.

It also doesn't have the extra 3 pin power connector to get that extra current onto the board. This results in the video board on the bottom of the stack running about 2 tenths of a volt lower than the upper board.
