Any Word on GameCube emulation yet?
« on: June 20, 2003, 01:03:54 pm »
Just saw a few gamecube roms available for DL and i was wondering how the emulation of it is going.  I hadn't heard anything yet.

Yep, that sounds right.  Don't worry about them yet.  There is no way to use them.

i have both wind waker and eternal darkness on real minidisc for my gamecube. trust me, you would not want to use an arcade control panel on them. you need the right analog for camera, the left for control, and the d-pad is for maps.

PSX Emulation is just barely coming along good now, N64 is still even crappy for SOME games, altho most of the good ones are perfect [Conkers Bad Fur Day just beat it on Project64] i would bet on a Dreamcast Emu much sooner then a GC one, and i wouldnt see it anytime soon i bet.

i really want a dreamcast or newer arcade Emu's support, Marvel vs Capcom 2 is awesome and my DC is almost dead =/

nightmare is  working good dreamcast emu...
damn no one here stays up with emulation... you would think... well <<< CENSORED MANUALLY BY SAINT -- PLEASE DON'T TRY TO GET AROUND THE AUTO-CENSOR >>>.

epsxe has been working since around 2001 very well for psx games...it isn't just barely comming along, it's been working great for quite some time...

these arcade ninjas gotta check the emulation scene a little more, lol...

I want a dreamcast emu so I don't have to swap discs every time I want to change games.  I'm also not real excited about hacking dreamcast pads.  So I won't.

...waiting for emulator.  Until then my dreamcast will only be played on my television.

lol i know about emulation and i know ePSXe is coming along nicely but what i mean is well yes ePSXe is VERY good i use it, but you have to constantly switch configs and such unless you use ePSXecutor which is handy and stores your configs per game if you make game specific plugins by renaming certain ones. i guess i was off on the PSX it is very good but just not upto my standard, or otherwords perfect. so i take that back.

as far as DC emulation i had no idea so you got me there.. but still i think im right in saying GC Emulation is far off.

There are ways to burn those ISOs/ROMs onto those mini-sized discs and play them on that Panasonic (i think thats the brand) Gamecube / DVD player thing (releaseed in Japan only).

A gamecube is only 150 bucks and the games are very reasonable, buy one, stop trying to get games for free and get over it.  Let's not try to kill a console via piracy when it is still in it's prime people.

omg, kid......to all users out there: trying to emulate a current system is the WORST possible newbish thing you could ever do.  you sound like an idiot and jeopardize emulation as a whole by doing it.  so shut up and buy a gamecube now, or wait 10 years and see what comes up.

Agreed.... The more people try to push for Emulation of Newer games and consoles, the more attention is brings to the BIG companies.  With the Court stuff being thrown around about Napster, Kazza and other file share sites, pissing the BIG BOYZ off is the LAST thing we want.  You think things seem slow to emulate now, what if it completly stop..... then you'd really be crying.... :-\

yes the "big boys" can get pissed off all they want...
but if things aren't done through name, and rather through alias, like most emulators, and released on file sharing progs and burned on cd given person to person ect... not websites nothing will come of it...mame went the legal route to protect itself...most emulators go with the anonymous route so they can't get burned...in any case...

"only 150 bucks"
then by all means send me a gamecube if they are so cheap...you sound like you can afford a couple of them since 150 is just chump change to you...or if you don't have an extra gamecube on hand send me the money and i'll buy myself one then...if you decline then you are giving the exact reason why emulation of ALL systems is done...
the end result is MONEY...not everyone has extra money to throw down, even mame claims to be to save arcade history blah blah, that might be its intended purpose...but how many times do you sit there and say wow i wonder how a bootleg clone of commando works for example... it's done to play the games, hence the reason for mame cabs ect... piracy and emulation will always be around...DEAL WITH IT!

Actually, it's us users that turn mame into a piracy tool.  Mame is not for playing.  If it was they'd put hardware acceleration in like other emulators.

If you read the gamecube forums this is just news, nothing more.  You can't do anything with these images.  I mean this info was released like 3 days ago.  There's no bootdisc or mod chip or whatever.  The hackers don't even know how to get it to play on a gc right now anyways.

i would just like to say that I own a gamecube and was just curious about what is happening with GC emulation becasue i saw some iso's.

I was not planning on developing, DL'ing or distributing GC iso's or supporting the emulation of it.  I was just inquiring as to its status.

Thank you for all your support
Love youguys
bye bye

That's a pretty weak argument.  Hmm...murder and rape will always be around too.  I guess we may as well join in, eh?

Spectre the auto censoring is in there for a reason.  Don't try to circumvent it by putting in spaces.  Why don't you try using intelligent speach without curse words instead?  Remember little eyes visit this board too, so let's keep it clean.

Did you not see the big "<<< CENSORED MANUALLY BY SAINT -- PLEASE DON'T TRY TO GET AROUND THE AUTO-CENSOR >>>." sign with your last cursing?  Bad lanaguage is a reason for a premenant ban.  You've been warned by me, this time.  When one of the mods let you know, it will be through email because you will probably be banned. Personally I'm not stupid enough to disrespect saint like that(nor would i want to), but hey whatever makes you happy.

thanks for playing! (copyright planetjay 1985-2003)

yea it would be, as long as you are willing to accept the bad that comes with that as well...
if you feel as though the benefit outweighs the punishment...then by all means go ahead...
in my case the benefit does outweigh the consequence since there really isn't any for me...
stealing a car or commiting a crime that will be punished on the other hand is something different...

Howard's been on this board much longer than you first off. Second off if he did say something to saint or sirpoonga you probably would be booted.  The reason he told you to quit it is because no one likes people who flame on a board. It ruins the board. It turns all threads in to garbage. Clean it up or go some place else.
