Spots on tv when turned 90*

I've installed a  tv in my cabinet horizontally and now I regret it, way too many games that I play have vertical orientation rather than horizontal. I was considering installing the tv vertically, but everytime I turned it on it's side an orange spot would pop up (picture was blue in video mode and then orange spot of various size would show up), regardless if it was turned clockwise or counterc.
I understand it's too late now, but I was wondering if anyone knows what was the cause of that effect (and maybe to avoid it in the future)

Also I'm reading peoples comments about tvs and svideos out on their video cards and it seems as ATI has better picture over Nvida Svideo, am I understanding this correctly?

every time you move a crt and in particular when you rotate a crt there is a good chance of gaussing

they haven't been able to find a way around that for the last 30 years
Ive put brand new monitors in machines only to have them come up gaussed, and then youve gotta hunt down a wand........

yes but the degauss is not always powerful enough if there is a strong magnetic field nearby

well..., just how many times does the typical consumer turn their tv on it's side ?   

if this is something u do frequently , then invest in ( or build ) a manual deguassing coil.....

those pesky electrons just can't walk a straight line when under the influence of a magnetic field.

My TV would do that just rotating it on its stand. Inbuilt degauss was always enough, but the only way to do that on a TV seems to be to kill the AC and turn it on again.
