Disable Windows Keyboard Shortcuts
« on: December 15, 2008, 03:51:38 pm »
Anyone know of an easy was to disable windows keyboard shortcuts (ei ctrl + w)? I am using MaLa and every now and then while playing, we activate shortcuts by pressing combinations of buttons/joysticks. For example, we were playing the Simpsons and suddenly it goes to a windows explorer window. I'm pretty sure this is what's happening, but I must be overlookingthe obvious.
You probably remember me from such films as `The Revenge of Abe Lincoln' and `The Wackiest Covered Wagon in the West'

Thanks, but the windows key isn't the problem. I am running off of a control panel with Ipac interface...no problems accidentally hitting the window key. It's the cntrol ant alt keys that seem to be causing problems.

I found this thread, but it is 5+ years old...hopefully there is some kind of solution since then.

The best solution is to not map buttons to ctrl or alt. I got tired of chasing these sorts of problems and finally realized there is absolutely no good reason for a typical cab to keep those default mappings.
My Collection: Mame cab, 38 dedicated vids, pin, skeeball, coin op air hockey table, Ice Cold Beer, Megatouch, 2 token machines, and payphone (VAPS, pics at Arcade Crusade)

Add Ambience to your mame cab setup

Yeah, I guess I'll go into MAME and remap them globally. It will probably screw up my LED configuration, but I guess I have all winter to straighten it out.

Well, I set up MAME to use other keys than CRTL, ALT, and SHIFT. Now my IPAC won't reprogram. It's giving me some kind of driver error. I just programmed it a couple of weeks ago and nothing has changed. Man this is a frustrating hobby!

Try re-installing the Ultimarc WinIPAC programing utility.  That installs the necessary driver.
